Hi! I’m Jaime. Think of me as your resident expert editor.

My story…

My editing roots are in NYC magazine publishing. I began as a copy editor in 2014, when I moved to NYC without a job because I wanted to work in the publishing capital of the world.

Thanks to relentless networking, I soon was freelancing for The Wall Street Journal Magazine and various Dotdash Meredith magazines, and interning for the Food52 editorial team (and serving at a sports bar in Williamsburg).

In these environments, I learned the tricks of the trade from veteran editors with decades of experience. They taught me what to look out for while editing and how to defend my edits when writers and other editors push back.

A year later, I began a full-time job as a copy editor at the weekly print magazine Time Out New York. In two years, I worked my way up to national copy chief of TONY and seven quarterly Time Out magazines in other U.S. cities.

In early 2018, I left Time Out to launch Pristine Editing and work with my ideal clients. Today I offer copyediting and substantive editing for agencies, businesses and nonprofits, and publications, small and large.

Working independently has allowed me to form meaningful, long-term professional relationships with my clients, some of whom have been with me since 2017. It’s been a pleasure to be part of some of the top creative teams in the world.
