About

Hi! I’m Jaime Brockway.

If you’re looking for a copy editor who will make your content shine and make your life easier through a seamless collaboration, then you’ve come to the right place.

As a well-practiced editor with nine years’ experience, I’ve got your back when it comes to clean, professional copy.

Why is copyediting important?

Copyediting is quality assurance.

No matter what type of content you are releasing to the world, you need a copy editor. Nothing says unprofessional and untrustworthy like confusing syntax and grammatical errors.

For example, women are 81% less likely to buy a product advertised with spelling or grammar errors, and 77% of men agree. Poor spelling and grammar is one of the main warning signs of an email scam.

Copyediting is an important function for the integrity of both print and digital content, one study found. Even young people value edited content free of errors.

But I get it—with everything else you have on your plate, sometimes editing your content falls by the wayside in the rush to share it with the world. That’s where I come in!

My purpose is to elevate your content by editing for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax—and so much more. I eradicate errors while maintaining your brand voice so that readers can feel the full impact of your words without being distracted by weird phrasing or misplaced punctuation.

Perhaps you’re a forward-thinking freelancer who is constantly pushing out new projects. Maybe you’re a large company or organization about to release a white paper or cross-platform marketing campaign. Or perhaps you’re a small business launching a website and a newsletter. Whoever you are, I can contribute to the unwavering high reputation of your brand.

Content I’ve edited:

  • branded/sponsored content
  • daily newsletters
  • print and online magazines
  • manuscripts
  • brochures
  • B2B case studies
  • white papers
  • website copy
  • blog posts
  • apps

More about my history:

I’ve been a professional copy editor since 2014, when I moved to NYC without a job because I wanted to work in the publishing capital of the world.

Soon I was freelancing for The Wall Street Journal Magazine and various Hearst magazines. Then I began working full-time job as a copy editor at the weekly print magazine Time Out New York. In two years, I worked my way up to national copy chief of TONY and seven quarterly Time Out magazines in other U.S. cities.

In January 2018, I again began freelancing in order to work with my ideal clients. You can find a complete list of my clients on LinkedIn.

If you’d like to collaborate, I’d love to hear from you.
